My awesome recess/exam week

Awesome awesome awesome. Ok as many of you have guessed, my finals were over since last Friday, ending with social psych paper. I rather not talk about how my papers went, but more of how this semester went. I think school as of this year was rather happening (only intermittently of course, but very memorable), since predominantly, it's been filled with school shitloads. Last semester was great as I had numerous outings with ze french peeps and the nusha gang, this semester seems to lack of those since ze french gang flew off to France for exchange. But the best part about this sem is really the joy of learning although Dr Penney's midterm paper was a killer, french 5 seemed a little demanding, and MNO was just full of projects and time-consuming and the many projects and presentations I've had. But they were all awesome! Bottomline is, the equation will always be learning > studying, hands down. It may seem, on the surface, that I'm biased towards my own major, but ...

Nasality

This Ratatouille soundtrack puts me to good mood :) I've been thinking about how these French people can sound so nasal all the time, even when they speak English. I even thought about how it could possibly be a trait in their genes that has been passed down from generations to generations. I know this is way too random a thing to think about, but what triggered this was the flu bug that attacked me about a couple of weeks ago which had me go all nasal for almost about a week. And so after I had my french debate, it suddenly hit me how the nasality of one's voice can perfect one's french accent. Do I have to be sick to sound nasal!? Lol. Ok I have WAY too many stories to tell, stories accumulated from more than a weeks' worth of tales during recess week all the way to the exam week. Friday shall be the day I'll look forward to. Meanwhile, I am so loving mugging sessions with rui qi, joy and jiayee; we crack each other up almost every other time :D

Eid Al-Adha

A Pakistani teenager hugs his goat at a livestock market for upcoming Eid al-Adha festival on the outskirts of Islamabad, Pakistan. Happy Eid to Muslims once again. I feel thankful that we have 2 eids in a year, and although the former Eid renders people (predominantly Muslims in Asia) more celebrations and joy, EidulAdha has a greater significance. Although I'm many miles away, pictures of Muslims clad in white coming from all over the world, congregating on this very day, in front of Kaabah, has always given me spiritual strength and faith and hopes that someday, I'll muster my way there myself, God-willing. Hope this holiday brings well to all be it enjoying the good company of food and family, studying or relaxing :) I found this really nice quote from Yatay, and I'd like to share this: In Morocco, on one of our honeymoons, I became drawn to the word 'inshallah', meaning 'if God wills it'. I love the simplicity and beauty of this idea. In English, there ...

Head Over Heels

Life, I really believe, is about falling in love. With ideas, with stories, with experiences, mistakes, adventures, poetry, imaginations, old books, new books, movies, music, and, of course, people. Everything that is worthwhile in this world is worth falling in love with, and I can’t imagine a better way to live one’s life than to be always head over heels. — Unknown And no doubt, I am head over heels for this quote :) I believe in this in every sense of its notion. I can never imagine life without feeling passionate for the things we do and the things we encounter, for that matter. The people we should envy are the people who readily have their hearts bursting and burning with love all the time. Speaking of that, I am in love with David Lehman's reading choices. I read several chapters of Switch and I must say it's brilliant! Morning! This is one of the rare occasions that I log in to blogger this early. 6:20 AM! Thanks to my needed "nap" at 10:45 that became a slee...

Les Francophiles

One of the best things about Monday is the fact that I am so finir with french 5. Over and done with the final test and just ended with a debate today woohoo! I went through 5 different hurdles within a week and nothing can feel as good as feeling relieved and accomplished. Of course I've my final exams in a week but I'm gonna take some breaks as of this week :) I am excited for HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS! The best thing is I've already got tickets this coming Thurday! Even if it means 3 hours away from studying despite 3 days away from my very first finals paper yikes! So today marked the final french tutorial. Nicole and I were kinda sad that it would be our last french class ever (if we choose not to continue with french 6). But today was awesome because I bumped into francesca and chatted with her quite a bit, and then bumped into Dorisa, she finally came back from exchange in France! That girl spent a year there or something. And I had quite an awesome bo...
