Won't you be my honey bee?

:D Isn't she just great? I have this affinity for singers who strum!

This is something random, but do you know that President Obama grew up in Indonesia, and that he actually craves so much for the Indonesian Nasi Goreng and possibly Mee Bakso as well as rambutans, hehe!

I've been thinking about the few places I'd like to visit in the near future when I'm financially independent. I've been enthusiastically viewing Lina's photos of Phuket with inputs of innumerable comments (lol) and I can't help but desiring to be there as well! So here's the list:

- Greece
- South of France!
- Mauritius
- Thailand
- Turkey
- Iran
- Australia
- Predominantly relaxing, resort-laden islands in Malaysia and Indonesia
- Canada
- South Korea

I know these are simply too many and possibly financially draining as well, but should dream big as long as we live :)

I've also been watching YouTube videos portraying the Muslim community in France, knowing that it has the largest number of Muslims in Europe. I feel so deeply connected, by religion in this case, with those who claim to be very proud Muslims and to be practising Muslims in such a highly secular, modern state like France. This is seen as admirable considering the controversial issues with regards to Laïcité (basically the whole concept of secularity) in France has been ongoing. But it is upsetting for the Muslim women donning the Burqas and the dilemmas they have to face particularly the conflict in identities; being a Muslim and being a French national. I am thankful that Singapore has no such law although the existing number of Burqa wearers is too small to be observed in the public. It is still relieving though pertaining to the acceptance of Hijabs all around the world (note that Hijabs and Burqas are two different things).

Reclaiming my voice

It has been more than 2 years since I published anything on this blog. I have written a few reflections quite abit during this time, but they are mostly in draft versions, probably reflective of the scatteredness of my thought processes, or the ongoing engagement with the topic which has yet found a proper resolve (or is there ever a resolve really?), or just me finding mere words to articulate my thoughts that are waiting to be entertained and possibly verbalised or written. I'm driven to write this post precisely because I can't entirely ignore the nagging voice inside my head, telling me to use writing as a tool to not only express myself, but to reclaim my voice. It is such an insanely noisy world. The constant stream of information from different online platforms not only pull me from various directions, but it spreads my attention too thin that it is impossible to follow one stream of thought, sit on it for awhile, slowly reflect and if possible, articulate it. It is not ...

Information vs. Knowledge

“To know how to put what knowledge in which place is wisdom. Otherwise, knowledge without order and seeking it without discipline does lead to confusion and hence to injustice to one's self.” - Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas This week's key takeaway for me is that; knowledge requires knowing its proper order and place.  Everything else is just information.

Infinity

unbounded to any definitions or limits, existing but not adequately known. this entity, being constantly talked about, pulls like an unbeatable gravitational force. we are always approaching, almost touching, existing in tandem, still, not yet meeting Infinity the eventual meeting where there are no bounds
